"Shadow automation " - when you think you have solved a specific problem, but oh dear, how ineffective!
When organizations choose to make individual automations, they often become isolated project initiatives to solve a specific problem - as can be seen in several examples where RPA (Robotic Process Automation) is used. Over time, these isolated automations are difficult to maintain and hard to combine in different workflows. Organizations that start with their key business processes and evaluate how best to support them digitally, and which steps can be streamlined with automation, will have a greater impact.
